Baby and Car provides professional child restraint installation services designed to assist parents and caregivers in correctly installing child car seats in accordance with:

  • The child restraint manufacturer’s instructions
  • The vehicle manufacturer’s instructions
  • Applicable Australian safety guidelines and standards where relevant

The service may include:

  • Installation of one or more child restraints
  • Checking an existing installation
  • Demonstrating correct use of the restraint
  • Explaining harness adjustment and positioning
  • Providing general child restraint safety advice

This service is advisory and educational in nature and is designed to assist customers in safely installing and using their child restraint.

Appointment Requirements

To ensure the installation can be completed safely and efficiently, customers must:

  • Arrive on time for the scheduled appointment
  • Provide the vehicle the seat will be installed in
  • Provide the correct child restraint suitable for the child
  • Bring all components of the restraint including inserts, tether straps, manuals and accessories where available
  • Ensure the vehicle interior is clean and safe to work in
  • Ensure access to anchor points and seat belt systems

If required components are missing or the vehicle is not suitable for installation, the appointment may need to be rescheduled where a $99 rebooking fee will apply.

Child Presence During Installation

Where possible, the child should be present during the installation appointment.

This allows the installer to:

  • Check correct harness fit
  • Adjust harness height
  • Confirm correct seating position

If the child is not present, the installation will be completed according to manufacturer recommendations only and harness fit cannot be guaranteed.

Vehicle and Seat Compatibility

Certain vehicle and child restraint combinations may present installation limitations due to:

  • Anchor point positioning
  • Seat belt design or length
  • Limited rear seat space
  • ISOFIX compatibility
  • Manufacturer restrictions on seating positions

Baby and Car will always recommend the safest possible installation position within manufacturer guidelines.

However, we cannot guarantee that every vehicle and car seat combination will allow ideal positioning.

Installation Limitations

Baby and Car installers will:

  • Follow manufacturer instructions
  • Use safe installation techniques
  • Provide guidance on correct use

Baby and Car will not:

  • Modify vehicles
  • Modify child restraints
  • Install damaged, expired, or incomplete restraints
  • Override manufacturer safety instructions

If a restraint is considered unsafe or incomplete, installation may be refused.

Safety Acknowledgement

By accepting the installation service, customers acknowledge that:

  • They have been shown how the restraint is installed
  • They understand how to secure their child in the restraint
  • They understand how to adjust harness straps and headrest height
  • They accept responsibility for the ongoing safe use of the restraint

It is the responsibility of the parent or caregiver to ensure the restraint continues to be used according to manufacturer instructions.

Installation Confirmation

At the completion of the service, customers may be asked to confirm that:

  • The installation has been completed
  • The operation of the restraint has been explained
  • They understand how to correctly use the seat

This confirmation acknowledges the installation has been demonstrated and accepted at the time of service.

Photo Documentation Consent

For quality control, safety documentation, and training purposes, Baby and Car may take photographs of the installed restraint.

These photos may include:

  • The installed seat
  • Anchor point connections
  • Installation positioning

Photos will not include identifiable images of children or customers without consent.

These images may be used for:

  • Installation documentation
  • Staff training
  • Educational or marketing purposes where appropriate

If customers prefer not to have photographs taken, they must inform the installer prior to installation.

Additional travel fees may apply for certain locations.

Baby and Car provides installation assistance and safety education.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Baby and Car is not responsible for:

  • Incorrect use of the child restraint after installation
  • Failure to follow instructions provided during the appointment
  • Manufacturing defects in the child restraint
  • Vehicle design limitations affecting installation

Nothing in these terms excludes rights provided under Australian Consumer Law.

Refusal of Service

Baby and Car reserves the right to refuse service where:

  • The restraint is damaged, expired, or unsafe

Agreement to Terms

By booking and attending a Baby and Car car seat installation service, the customer confirms they have:

  • Read and understood these Terms and Conditions
  • Accepted the Cancellation and Refund Policy
  • Acknowledged their responsibility for the ongoing safe use of the child restraint.

Used or Second-Hand Child Restraints

Baby and Car may install customer-provided child restraints, including second-hand or previously used restraints.

However, Baby and Car cannot verify the full history of any restraint provided by a customer, including whether the seat has:

  • Been involved in a motor vehicle accident
  • Experienced structural damage
  • Had parts replaced or modified
  • Been incorrectly stored or handled

By providing a second-hand or previously used restraint for installation, the customer acknowledges that Baby and Car is not responsible for the condition, history, or structural integrity of the restraint.

If the installer believes the restraint may be unsafe or unsuitable for use, Baby and Car reserves the right to refuse installation for safety reasons.

Expired or Damaged Restraints

Child restraints have manufacturer-recommended service life limits.

If a restraint is:

  • Past its recommended expiry date
  • Missing critical components
  • Structurally damaged
  • Showing signs of excessive wear

Baby and Car may refuse installation due to safety concerns.

If the customer requests installation of a restraint that is near expiry or showing signs of wear, the installer may provide safety advice but cannot guarantee the continued safety or performance of the restraint.

The final responsibility for the use of an expired or worn restraint remains with the customer.

Third Row and Seven-Seater Installation Limitations

Vehicles with third-row seating or seven-seat configurations may present additional installation limitations due to:

  • Anchor point placement
  • Limited seat depth or support
  • Restricted access to tether points
  • Reduced space for rear-facing restraints

In some vehicles, installation positions may be limited or may not allow ideal placement of multiple restraints.

Baby and Car will recommend the safest available configuration based on the vehicle and restraint manufacturer instructions, however some seating positions may not be suitable for child restraints.

Customers acknowledge that vehicle design limitations may affect restraint positioning and access within third-row seating areas.

Post-Installation Adjustments

Once a child restraint has been installed by Baby and Car, any adjustments, modifications, or reinstallation carried out by the customer or another third party may affect the safety and correctness of the installation.

Baby and Car cannot guarantee the safety or correctness of the installation if:

  • The restraint is removed and reinstalled
  • Seat belt routing is altered
  • Tether straps are disconnected or adjusted
  • The restraint is moved to a different seating position
  • Vehicle seats are folded or repositioned

If a restraint is removed or adjusted after installation, customers are encouraged to book a follow-up installation checkto ensure the restraint remains correctly installed.

Baby and Car is not responsible for installation issues resulting from adjustments made after the original appointment.
