Unlike general baby equipment hire services, every capsule hired through Baby and Car is professionally checked, cleaned, safety inspected, and installed by an accredited child restraint fitter before use.

We focus on premium, trusted products that we personally use, test, and recommend to families — not low-cost products chosen purely on price.

Your hire includes professional installation, education, support throughout your hire period, and ongoing access to our team if you need assistance as your baby grows.

Important Safety Information

Every Baby Is Different

Choosing the correct seat for your child’s height, weight, and stage is extremely important.

Some newborns — particularly low birth weight or premature babies — may require a more specialised low birth weight capsule during the first few weeks or months.

Not every seat suits every baby, which is why we take the time to guide families through the safest setup for their child.

Capsules Should Never Be Used After An Accident

If your vehicle is involved in an accident while using the hired capsule:

• Stop using the capsule immediately
• Contact Baby and Car within 24 hours
• Do not continue using the seat until it has been assessed

Even minor accidents can affect the structural integrity of a child restraint.

Correct Use Matters

Your capsule should always be used in accordance with manufacturer instructions.

This includes:

• Correct harness positioning
• Appropriate harness tension
• Correct recline angle
• Correct fit for your child’s size and stage

Capsules are not “set and forget” products. As your baby grows, adjustments may be required to maintain safe fitment.

What To Expect At Your Installation Appointment

Your installation appointment usually takes approximately 15 minutes, including:

• Professional installation
• Safety walkthrough
• Daily use demonstration
• Harness adjustment guidance
• Questions and support

We strongly recommend having your child present where possible so we can assist with fitment and harness adjustment.

If your child is not present, we recommend booking a complimentary fitment check at our Oakleigh location within the first few months of use.

Before Your Appointment

To help us complete your installation safely and efficiently, please ensure:

• Your driveway or parking space is accessible
• There is enough room to fully open all vehicle doors
• The vehicle is cleared of rubbish and unnecessary items
• Any existing seat covers or accessories are removed if requested
• Pets are secured away from the installation area

We will provide all required manuals and installation guidance during your appointment.

During Your Hire Period

We are here to support you throughout your hire.

Please contact us if:

• Your harness straps need adjusting
• Your baby appears too small or too large for the setup
• You are unsure how to use part of the capsule
• Your vehicle is involved in an accident
• You notice damage or unusual wear
• You would like a fitment check as your baby grows

Please do not:

• Wash harness straps
• Modify the capsule
• Add unapproved accessories
• Attempt to reinstall the capsule yourself

Returning Your Capsule

At the end of your hire period, your capsule will be returned to Baby and Car for inspection and professional cleaning.

Return Process

Step 1 – Return Inspection

The capsule will be checked for:

• Damage
• Excessive wear
• Missing parts
• Stains or odours
• Safety concerns

Step 2 – Cleaning And Assessment

The product will undergo a professional cleaning and safety assessment before being approved for future use.

Additional cleaning fees may apply for:

• Heavy staining
• Food or drink spills
• Sand, dirt, or excessive mess
• Smoke or strong odours

Step 3 – Deposit Refund

Once the capsule has passed inspection and cleaning:

• Your security deposit will be processed within 2 business days
• Refunds may take 5–10 business days depending on your payment provider

Baby and Car – Capsule Hire Agreement

Maxi Cosi Mico 12 LX Pro Capsule Hire

This Hire Agreement is entered into between:

Business: Baby and Car (ABN 25 426 901 759)

Address: Simeon Place, Liberty Grove NSW 2138

(“Baby and Car”, “we”, “us”)

and

Customer: The individual completing the booking (“you”, “your”).

1. Hire Product

This agreement relates to the hire of the

Maxi Cosi Mico 12 LX Pro baby capsule (“the Product”).

The Product remains the property of Baby and Car at all times.

2. Hire Period

• Hire periods are available from 1 to 12 months
• Hire begins on the date of installation

Hire Pricing

• 3 month hire: $100 per month
• 6 month hire: $60 per month
• 12 month hire: $35 per month

All hire fees are payable upfront or as agreed at time of booking.

3. Security Deposit

A $250 security deposit is required prior to installation.

• The deposit is held for the duration of the hire
• The Product will be inspected within 2 business days of return
• Refunds will be processed after inspection
• Refunds may take 5–10 business days depending on your payment provider

4. Installation And Fitment

• The Product must be installed by Baby and Car only
• Self-installation is not permitted under any circumstances
• Installation includes guidance on safe use

Refitting

• A $20 refit fee applies if adjustments are required during the hire period

5. Use Of The Product

You agree to:

• Use the Product in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
• Ensure the child meets all height and weight requirements
• Not modify, alter, or tamper with the Product
• Use the Product only within Australia
• Not use the Product for air travel

6. Non-Transfer Of Hire

The Product must not be transferred, sub-hired, or used by any other party without prior written approval from Baby and Car.

7. Accident Policy

• You must notify Baby and Car within 24 hours of any accident
• The Product must not be used again after an accident
• Baby and Car reserves the right to require replacement of the Product

8. Condition And Acceptable Wear And Tear

The Product must be returned in good condition, allowing for reasonable wear and tear.

Acceptable Wear And Tear Includes:

• Minor fabric fading from normal use
• Light surface marks consistent with everyday use

Not Acceptable:

• Stains, spills, or odours
• Damage to straps, buckles, or structure
• Missing parts or accessories

9. Cleaning Fee

If the Product is returned in a condition requiring additional cleaning:

• A cleaning fee will be deducted from the security deposit

10. Hygiene And Safety

Baby and Car reserves the right to remove any Product from circulation if it is deemed unsafe, contaminated, or unsuitable for rehire.

11. Damage, Loss Or Replacement

You are responsible for the Product during the hire period.

If the Product is:

• Damaged beyond repair
• Lost or not returned

You agree to:

• Forfeit the $250 security deposit, and
• Pay an additional $250 replacement fee

Total liability: $500

12. Late Returns

Late returns incur a $20 per day fee.

13. Extensions

• Hire periods may be extended subject to availability
• Standard hire rates apply
• Requests must be made prior to the end of the hire period

14. Early Return

• You may return the Product early
• No refunds will be provided for unused hire time

15. Appointments And Access

• The customer must provide safe and suitable access for installation and collection
• Baby and Car may refuse service if conditions are unsafe or unsuitable

Rescheduling

• Appointments cancelled or missed with less than 24 hours notice may incur a $25 rescheduling fee

16. Termination By Baby And Car

Baby and Car may terminate this agreement if:

• The Product is misused
• Any terms are breached

The Product must be returned immediately and no refund will be issued.

17. Liability

To the extent permitted by law:

• Baby and Car is not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from misuse of the Product
• You accept full responsibility for the safe use of the Product once installed

18. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Baby and Car from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from the use or misuse of the Product.

19. Condition Documentation

Baby and Car may document the condition of the Product before and after hire for record-keeping and dispute resolution.

20. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

21. Agreement Acceptance

By signing this agreement or proceeding with payment, you:

• Confirm you have read and understood this agreement
• Agree to all terms outlined above
• Accept responsibility for the Product during the hire period
